I just wondered what everyone else's favorite stick is here. Personally, I use a ProMark nylon tip 7A or nylon tip Jazz model in Japanese oak. I also
sometimes use Mike Portnoy Signature 420 (nylon/hickory) for heavier stuff. I really like the oak though. They seem to hold up so much better than hickory,
at least 3 times as long in my experience. I always seem to break the tip off and get that split right down the middle of the stick. What's everyone
else's experience?

I have an Evans EMAD on my 22 x 18 bass, and I think it sounds too boomy. I have the larger muffle ring in it and am using the stock, unported Pearl front
head. I found that it has a ton of volume, too much for rehearsal, but ok for live (where I'm miking it anyways). I also have to crank it to get any
rebound off of it, but then it sounds flat, (but still boomy). Any suggestions? I really want a tight punch with nice bottom end...something I have yet to
experience at the same time.

Today I noticed I have about a quarter inch long crack coming from the edge of my ride (a 20" Sabian AAX Stage Ride). From what I've read my two
options are to either drill a small hole at the end of the crack and hope it stops, or get it lathed down to maybe like 18" to remove the crack all
together. I'm not really sure what to do so I'm pretty much just looking for advice.

I have recently had a brief dip into the pool of truly custom drum making, both with Sedona Drum and Hillbilly Drum. While interesting and challenging, it was
enough to make me aware of a few things about custom drums. Drum making to me has always been about providing a creative outlet and providing balance in my
life. It surely is a beautiful thing to imagine something in your...

I watched a drummer playing the other day who had moved his ride to the left side of the kit, above & behind the hats, with a steep rake almost like a lot
of chinas are mounted. He played like a lefty, hitting the hats and ride with his left stick and the snare (and toms) with his right. I was impressed that he
was able to utilize the toms in his grooves very easily since he didn't have to cross hands to keep time on...

we'll do this the old-fashioned way...I played the kit a bit with Little Red and the 12" rack tom on a stand to the left of the hats, the 13" and

I just jammed for the first time with my new kit (yes, pictures to come). We only played for about 45 minutes, and I noticed a bit of pitting on my 9X12,
followed by some wrinkling. I stopped playing, and I felt my tension rods, a few were only finger-tight.

I probably have about 2 hours on this kit, if that. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I know drums come un-tuned, but this is crazy, any
ideas/solutions?

I just purchased one of those Gretsch Catalina Club kits. The kit sounds really good and the 18x14 kick drum will suprise you!! I'm having a tough
time tuning the 5x14 snare. It seems to really choke up or have a lot of overtones and almost sounds like a toy with little to no sweet spot. I have been
playing heavy 6.5x14 brass snares for years so maybe that's the issue? It came stock w/ Evans G1 on top and the resonant head on the bottom. I'm a big
