vintage Ludwig questions

I purchased some old beat up Ludwigs from craigslist last week and I have some questions about them. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out. The shells are in pretty bad shape and I doubt they're even worth keeping, but I figured just the lugs and parts were worth the $50 I paid for them. What I'm probably going to do is try to find some used Ludwig shells in better shape and transferring the lugs and other parts to them (just to have a cheap practice kit or...

Rogers Drum kit bass drum head

I have a 1972 Rogers, Koa color, 7 piece drum kit with a super ten snare and concert toms. I would like a bass drum head with the vintage Rogers logo on it. Does anyone know where I could buy one?

I have a vintage? Ludwig snare that I'm trying to determine the era it came from. I have heard from one guy that it was probably from the 70's but that seems a bit old to me. I'll going to describe it as best I can since I don't have a picture of it online, yet. It has a black and white badge, a shiny metal covering, kind of rounded off double lugs, a dial damper, and the shell has a grey spatter paint on the inside. Sometime in the 80's my big brother thought it would be funny to tear the badge on my kicker in half. Hey guys, My guitarist just purchased a stewart kit that had a 13" rack a 20" kick and a 16" floor tom. We heard pearl may have manufactured these in japan, but we can't find out much more about them. Thus, my question is, do any of you have information about these drums? Pardon me please for duplicating this post. I didn't know there was a 'Vintage' section. The topic has come up between a friend and me about Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare shells, (wood or metal). AAAAAHHHH!!!! There's a red Vistalite marching snare, 15X12, on OyVeh. It has the long high tension lugs that are essentially a Large Classic on each end of a skinny bridge. (Mach?) Anyway, are the two mounting holes on each end of these long double Classics the same spacing as regular Large or Small Classics? Yeah, I'm thinking, replace the dual lugs with regular Classics, redo the bottom bearing edge, remove the snare hardware, stick a tom mount on it, and ta-da, 15" rack...

Glue Issue

I am tring to fix a drum with a reinforcing ring (the wood ring on the inside of the shell at both ends of the drum) that is coming unglued. It seems the ring is solid except for at the bearing edge. While the outside shell is mostly responsible for the bearing edge, it seems wierd that it is coming slightly unglued. Has anyone ever witnessed such a thing and, can I get any sound advice?

slingerland floor tom -push buttons

Ok, I posted in garage sale and the drum maker's forum, I hope I have better luck here. Just picked up a 64 slingerland kit with two floor toms. They have the push-button leg mounts, only one mount has the button(screw). Anyone have any/ know where they might be gotten? Maybe a good alternative? Thanks

I am trying to wrap a 18" Gretsch bass drum to match my old set (see pic of 20" bass drum).

The wrap was called "Midnight Blue Pearl" by Gretsch in the 1960's. I believe other companies ahd the same wrap under different names.

Back in the days it was already pretty grey (more grey than blue) but it might also have faded a...

Picked up a 24x14 kick and a 13" Vistalite tom today at a garage sale for $2.00. They had been painted by an idiot and then sanded down again. I've heard you can wet sand these to near perfect but these are rough. The hardware is in great shape and I have all the bass drum lugs and claws, spurs and the horrid bull horn tom mount which the logo is old and cast in iron What would you guys do?
