I'm not a painter but the one and only time I painted a shell (steel), I used automotive, namely Duplicolor in a rattlecan. It came out nice. Of course,
a steel shell is not much different from a car body. I think a lot of the painters use automotive, e.g. House of Kolor (HOK) is often referred to.

Hi,
Any of the automotive Paints will work well. Alsa, PPG, HOK, etc. I usually prime, 2 base coats, 3 clear coats. wet sand up to 2000 grit. Rubbing compound, Polishing Compound, and then swirl remover, and it should be a show quality finish. |
